Willows Lodge: Spa Renovation and Brief Closure

Willows Lodge’s spa is getting a facelift. The spa at Willows Lodge recently completed Phase I of an extensive spa renovation including a gorgeous new relaxation room and women’s locker room to better serve the needs of hotel guests. The Spa at Willows Lodge will begin Phase II February 26, 2018 and the spa will be completely closed from February 26 – March 5, 2018, including the outdoor relaxation pool. Beginning on March 6th, the full spa treatments will be available and will be conducted in converted guest rooms in the Davidson building (where the spa is located) while the remainder of the work is being done in the spa. The relaxation room and women’s locker room will reopen March 6. The outdoor relaxation pool will reopen on March 9. The newly refurbished spa will include updated treatment rooms, a couples massage room, and a small men’s locker room. The spa remodel is expected to be finished and reopen the weekend of April 6th.
“We’ve received great feedback on our new relaxation room and adjacent women’s locker room and can’t wait for the big reveal of Phase II of the spa renovation,” said Marsha Blacknell, Spa Director. “This newly designed space will enable us to better serve the growing needs of our hotel guests and spa regulars.”
As with many materials used at Willows Lodge, the spa renovation design will bring a balance of natural materials and colors of the Pacific Northwest with a base of cool hues, white quartz and warm American walnut wood accents. The floor tile used at each spa entry, a through-body porcelain tile reminiscent of the cross-section of a tree trunk, is a reference to Washington State’s lumber and timber history. The new reception desk, crafted in a fusion of calacatta-style quartz with warm veining and walnut wood emphasizes the richness and beauty of natural materials found in the PNW.
“The new and improved Willows Spa will mix elegant and warm natural PNW inspired materials with thoughtful and timeless design, furniture and artwork,” said Fanny Idoux, Weber Thompson, the architect leading the spa remodel. “With its grand entry, relocated reception desk and new massage rooms, the spa will offer a more luxurious and tailored guest experience.”

Barking Frog: Renovation Planned Early 2018

BARKING FROG KITCHEN RENOVATION SET TO SUPPORT 17 YEARS OF EXPANSIVE GROWTH

Barking Frog house kitchen to get an extensive remodel to keep pace with guest demand

Woodinville, Wash (December 6, 2017) – After more than seventeen years, the Barking Frog restaurant at Willows Lodge is set to undergo an extensive kitchen remodel in January 2018 to better serve the growing needs of culinary and hotel guests. The restaurant will close on January 2, 2018, and plans to reopen on February 6th, 2018. During the Barking Frog closure, Willow Lodge will be serving a limited menu in Fireside Lounge for breakfast/brunch, lunch, and dinner and the Barking Frog Mobile Kitchen food truck will be parked onsite, serving hotel guests and visitors a fun, mixed menu on weekends.

“We’ve seen tremendous growth in our food and beverage demands over the last 17 years at Barking Frog and Willows Lodge,” said Denny Fitzpatrick, General Manager, Willows Lodge. “It is our goal to continue to offer an excellent guest experience and we’re excited to reveal a more modern and efficient kitchen to meet the rapidly growing culinary needs of our valued guests in 2018.”

Willows Lodge will continue to offer Happier Hour daily from 4-6pm in Fireside Lounge. In addition, hotel guests will still have access to a limited room service menu for in-room dining. On Saturday and Sunday, the Barking Frog Mobile Kitchen (BFMK) food truck will be parked out front of the hotel serving brunch items such as warm Beignets, Chorizo Burritos, and Grand Mariner Prawns from 9am-2pm.

Executive Chef Bobby Moore will be overseeing the Barking Frog renovation. Both Chef Bobby and Chef de Cuisine, Chris Smith, will continue to manage operations at Fireside and BFMK during the renovation, as well share behind the scenes of the remodel in January on social media.

“We are taking the Barking Frog back of the house to a whole new level and I could not be more excited for the big reveal in February 2018,” said Barking Frog Executive Chef Bobby Moore. “This new work space will allow us to continue to innovate and bring guests the best culinary experience.”

During the kitchen remodel, the banquette along the windows will get a new, updated look to go along with the remainder of the interior which was redecorated in the past year. An expanded pass shelf and kitchen entry will provide a more open experience for guests to get closer to the action in the kitchen.

Be sure to follow @BarkingFrogWoodinville and @WillowslodgeWA on Instagram for behind the scenes photos of the renovation, as well as Chef Bobby and Chef Chris around town.

Matthews Winery: Farm to Table Dinner Series

Matthews Winery has sent out information on their Farm to Table Dinner Series.

Announcing the Matthews Farm-to-Table Dinner Series

Matthews Winery and Creekside Farm are excited to invite you to this season’s 2016 Farm-to-Table Dinner Series.

As many of you may have read, we’ve recently started a vegetable and flower farm on our property in Woodinville, called Creekside Farm. We’re pleased to announce that we’ve lined up three incredible chefs to cook a seasonal meal in our newly renovated tasting room and event space.

Each dinner will feature a local chef from some of the most renowned restaurants in the Puget Sound region using produce from our very own Creekside Farm. All dinners begin at 6pm, and will include a farm tour with passed appetizers, a multi-course family-style meal and several wine pairings with all the courses. Price: $95/person plus tax and each dinner is limited to only 40 people per evening.

Tickets for the dinners are now available! As a Matthews Mailing List member, you now have access to purchase tickets to any of these evenings. The remaining tickets will be made available beginning on Thursday morning to the general public members on a first-come, first-served basis.  For each dinner, you may purchase up to 4 tickets.

For chef information, dates, ticket links, see below:

August 18th – Chef JJ Proville of L’Oursin(opening Fall 2016)

To say we are excited about L’oursin’s launch this coming Fall in Seattle is an understatement. As one of the founding members of Creekside Farm, JJ is known for cooking with a delicate hand, always working with seasonal ingredients using a unique spin on classical French cooking techniques. This meal is sure to set the bar for the rest of the evenings to come.

Matthews Winery: Farm to Table Dinner Series
September 22nd – Chef Logan Cox of Sitka & Spruce

Logan only had one requirement: “I want to cook the entire meal over an open flame.”, he said. And what Logan wants, Logan gets. As head of one of our favorite restaurants in Seattle, we’re excited to see what he will do with all the fresh September produce coming from the farm. Now, we need to get back to building our fire pit for him to cook over.

Matthews Winery: Farm to Table Dinner Series
October 13th – Chefs Bobby Moore & Chris Smith of Barking Frog

Barking Frog is the closest restaurant to Creekside Farm, and Bobby Moore has been intimately involved this year, sourcing produce for use in his Woodinville restaurant. We’re excited to have him out of the restaurant and cooking for us during this intimate evening.

We are honored to have such incredible chefs to collaborate with on these dinners. Space is limited at each one of these dinners, and all ticket sales are first come, first served. We look forward to seeing you at one of them!
